On new single “The Blacker The Berry”, Kendrick Lemar channels the energy and agression from Boi-1da’s 90’s Hip Hop inspired production. Sonically it’s quite a bit different from previous Grammy winning single “i”, which had more of a Soulful feel to it, but the song’s message is similar. “i” may not have been a commercial success in the US but over here it was a UK Top 20 single, so it’s great to hear Kendrick not give in to try and make something more radio friendly. “The Blacker The Berry” is today’s Song of The Day.
