Following a brief hiatus, Murkage Dave is back with a double single, “Please Don’t Move To London It’s A Trap” and “Awful Things” featuring Caroline Polachek.
“Please Don’t Move To London It’s A Trap” paints a picture of what London is actually like especially for those with preconceived ideas or serotypes about what the city is like. “I’d rather just say it as it is,” the Leytonstone-born singer-songwriter notes. “it may not be as pretty a picture or maybe it doesn’t fit the stereotype that some might like to consume but I feel like I’ve gotten closer to the truth.”
“Awful Things” sees Dave collaborate with songwriter, producer, and singer Caroline Polachek. The song was created during lockdown when Caroline got stuck in the UK and the pair ended up working together. It is more of a reflective, out and out pop song whereas “Please Don’t Move To London It’s A Trap” is a more playful way of addressing misconceptions about London.
