Dublin singer-songwriter-producer Orla Gartland has just announced her long-awaited debut album, Woman On The Internet. It will follow her trio of EPs; the last of which, Freckle Season, was released last year.
The title reflects Orla’s journey, which she had to take into her own hands from a young age. She started writing music when she was 14 years old but was unable to convince any of the venues to let her perform. She moved to perfect her craft online and eventually headed out to tour the very day that she finished school! When she returned, she packed her bags and the moved to London to further her career.
“Announcing my debut album feels like a moment I’ve been waiting for for years,” Orla notes. “When I was a few songs into writing the album it became clear that Woman On The Internet is about the chaos of my 20s.” She reflects, “it’s a different chaos to your late teens, such a different brand of angst.”
