German-born singer-songwriter and producer Matilda Eyre opens up about wanting to be loved and accepted for her true self on her new single “Let Me Be”. During lockdown she was unable to return to her London home and so she moved back in with her parents. She converted her dad’s trailer into a DIY garden studio and began her #100DayProject. Matilda set about creating music on a daily basis, writing small songs and creating self-made, mini music videos or animations to accompany them, which she would then go on to release on her YouTube channel. Her new single “Let Me Be” was created during this period of increased productivity. “‘Let Me Be’ is a song about the excruciating wish to be your authentic self, to be loved the way you are, to be seen for your true self,” explains Matilda. “It is a call to step into your truth and authenticity when people or situations ask you to abandon yourself,” she adds. “Let Me Be” is out now on Apple Music and Spotify.
