“Magazine Girls” is the new single from Scottish Independent singer-songwriter, Rachel Jack. The song calls out the unachievable beauty standards that are imposed on women by magazines. Rachel explains, “throughout my late teens/early 20s, I was painfully insecure to the point that I’d spend hours getting ready only to decide not to leave the house. I hated the way I looked, and I wanted to change everything about myself.” She adds, “Magazine Girls is about realising that I could never look like those girls in beauty magazines because on a normal day, they don’t even look like that.” The song marks a departure from her Acoustic, Folk sound and sees her collaborate with producer and former classmate DUNT. They met while Rachel was studying music at University West of Scotland, where she was awarded a one-year songwriting scholarship from local musician Paolo Nutini. The song is the first single and title track from Rachel’s forthcoming EP which will be released in 2021. “Magazine Girls” is out now on Apple Music and Spotify.
