With her new video, Jorja Smith chose to use her platform for the greater good. The video shows clips from various Black Lives Matter protests from recent months as well as civil rights protests protests from the past. Pivotal quotes from the likes of Martin Luther King Jr, Nina Simone and Malcolm X. It’s a powerful reminder of the events of recent months but also that the work must continue. Speaking about the video Jorja said, “this video is a tribute to all the people who have paved the way for black empowerment and freedom. We are not going to stay quiet – black lives matter – they always have.” All proceeds from sales of this 7” single release via the Blue Note Records Store will be donated to Kwanda. Which is a non-profit organisation that aids individuals giving back to, and building within, black communities. “Rose Rouge” is out now on Apple Music and Spotify.
