Ruth B wasn’t sure about releasing “If I Have A Son” but I’m glad that she did. “When I first wrote it as I was just writing to sort through my feelings but I’ve always believed my music to be my tool,” she explained. The song is about racism, social injustice and the fear that we have for the young, black youth. Ruth announced that all of the proceeds from “If I Have A Son” will go to various organizations/charities such as True North Aid, Campaign Zero, HOPEthiopia and the Black Youth Helpline. It’s a shame that songs like this are necessary but as the first two bars of the song especially bring this home”If I Have A Son” is out now on Apple Music and Spotify.
