“We wanted ‘Man On The Moon’ to sound as small as possible, kind of like a toy or a music box, but we wanted it to have a lot of space as well. We experimented with lots of different instrumental lineups and found that it would be a good choice to make the lineup different from the rest of the album. So we used xylophone, a few keyboards and cello to get a mix of sounds that was soft but spacious and unusual. And during the bridge we used samples of clocks ticking to give the effect of passing time while the vocal part sings ‘I’m still waiting.'” – Twin Trip
