Singer-songwriter Grace Davies explores the modern dating experience on “i met a boy online”. She wrote it during the UK’s first lockdown last year with her friend and producer, Frances (Dua Lipa, Katy Perry). “I was experiencing self-doubt when talking to a boy I’d met on a dating app,” Grace reveals. Lockdown restrictions meant that they couldn’t meet up and had to date virtually. She describes it being, “a really new and weird experience.” All that time alone meant that she had more time to overthink things. She began to doubt, “whether he would feel the same way about me if he actually met me in person.” With lockdown hopefully ending soon there will be less time for overthinking things and more time for the fun stuff. “i met a boy online” is out now on Apple Music and Spotify.
