Here’s a brand new song from M.I.A. titled “Haters”. Two important things about the track:
Firstly the song is a reply in sorts to Lynn Hirschberg’s unflattering profile on M.I.A. in the New York Times Magazine. The article is quite long, for those of you who don’t fancy the long read there’s a summary by Lane Brown on NYmag.com. M.I.A. claims to have been misquoted and posted audio from the the interview on her N.E.E.T. blog.
Secondly the beat and the singing are from Various Production’s “Hater” which was released in 2007 on XL Recordings:
