Sofia Valdés – Lonely

Music seems to run in the blood for Sofia Valdés’ family, her great-grandfather was the legendary Cuban musician Miguelito Valdés. And her great-great grandmother was Panamanian singer, Silvia De Grasse and once performed with Louis Armstrong. Sofía is carrying on the family tradition by embarking on a music career of her own. She first learned English by listening to pop music and then went on to find inspiration in folk, ‘60’s Motown, ‘70s soul, classical, and bossa nova.

She wrote her new single on the last night of her trip to Thailand and, “didn’t think anything of it,” she says. “My best friend Ellie heard it on our way to the airport and she said it was her favorite song of mine,” Sofia adds. Now though, she has realised how good “Lonely” sounds; “it’s my favorite now too,” Sofia admits. The song is taken from Sofia’s forthcoming debut EP, Ventura, which will be released on February 5th via Warner Records. “Lonely” is out now on Apple Music and Spotify.
