Busta Rhymes – Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God (Album)

In 1998 New York rapper, Busta Rhymes released his third albm, E.L.E. (Extinction Level Event): The Final World Front. Twenty two years later, he has just released his tenth album, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God, the companion to his 1998 project. Having first announced the album in 2013, it’s been a long time coming. Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God is a ravishing reminder of just how good Bus a Bus is and still can be. The album is very much centred around the troubling times that we’re in: dealing with a global pandemic, social injustice, racism being more prominent etc. There’s a long list of guests featured on the album including Kendrick Lamar on “Look Over Your Shoulder”, Anderson .Paak on “YUUUU”, Rakim, Mariah Carey on “Where I Belong”, Minister Louis Farrakhan (who features throughout the album) plus many more. This is Busta Rhymes at his boom bap, energetic and upbeat best, minus his collaboration with “Vybz Kartel, “The Don & The Boss”, which is one of the album’s rare low moments and thoroughly forgettable. Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God is out now on Apple Music and Spotify, you can listen to it in full below.
