It’s not everyday that I need to do research to better understand a song but Amanda Frances’ new single is one of those rare moments. Palo Santo is an aromatic tree that grows wild in Mexico and along down to the coast of South America, according to Science Trends. It’s name literally means holy wood; when burned, the wood is thought to have medicinal and therapeutic healing properties, according to this video by the Palo Santo Supply Co. Amanda was inspired tro write the song after a friend of her’s posted a video of Palo Santo burning during golden hour, “I remember being mesmerized by the way the light was catching the smoke as it billowed up,” she explains. It’s a song with a long build up (almost a minute) but the wait is worth it. “Palo Santo” is out now on Apple Music and Spotify.
