BAWO – Live & Let Thrive EP

West London based newcomer BAWO has just dropped his brilliant new Live & Let Thrive EP. The EP showcases BAWO’s effortless flow over mellow Grime and Garage inspired Hip Hop production.

The EP’s overarching message is to continue despite adversity and persisting even when the desired goal isn’t in sight. The tone is set with the EP’s opening track, “I Hated My Name”, which explores the different levels of racism that BAWO has faced growing up in the UK. It’s not the king of track that I’d expect to hear as the first track but it has an empowering message of self pride.

Another of the EP’s highlights is the Trap inspired, “Starts with a Text”. A track on which BAWO misreads the level of interest the girl he’s pursuing has in being with him. More adversity but the story’s delivered in an engaging and entertaining way. The EP also includes BAWO’s new single “Building Castles”.

BAWO’s Live & Let Thrive EP is out now on Apple Music and Spotify, you can listen to it in full below.
