I've never heard anything from Ryan Hemsworth before and wasn't particularly keen on the cover. But this will probably be the best thing you hear today!
"If you like Cassie, New Order, Three 6 Mafia, Nintendo soundtracks, or Duke Ellington, you might like it! (they're all sampled or built off of in some way). It's being co-released through The Villa and [^]LAND, and it's pay-what-you-want (which means: just put zero, I'll still love you)." - Ryan Hemsworth

Review: Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Make a scene

Almost four years after releasing her last studio album,
Sophie Ellis-Bextor is back with a new album Make A Scene. Good news for those
who know how enjoyable Sophie’s music can be when she’s on point.
With this in mind, Make A Scene is an album that could have
been something really special. Although there are few low points there are a
number of songs which are more filler than killer. Songs like “Heartbreak (Make
Me A Dancer)”, “Can't Fight This Feeling” and “Dial My Number” do not add
anything valuable to what Make A Scene has to offer.
“Revolution” should not even be on the album let alone be
the song that is first heard by listeners. The song is flat and cannot compare
to songs such as “Synchronized” and “Under Your Touch”. On “Homewrecker” Sophie
sounds a little too jolly considering the lyrics and the subject matter of the
song. An extramarital affair is not the type of thing that you’d want to hear
about on a night out and dance about. With a slower tempo, this song would be
more of an enjoyable listen.
Sophie’s new single
“Starlight", is head and shoulders above the rest of the songs on the album.
Even though Make A Scene makes a shaky start with “Revolution”, it improves as
you progress through the track list and finishes on a high note. “Cut Straight
To The Heart” another of the album’s highlights leaves the question: how much
better would Make A Scene be, had its producers (Ed Harcourt, Dimitri Tikovoi)
produced more than just one song on the album?
Make A Scene has its moments and there are quite a few,
unfortunately almost half of the album is made up of filler or bad songs.
Something that could have been avoided had Sophie followed Kelis’s lead and
kept to a short track list.
WORTH A LISTEN:
“Off & On”
“Starlight”
“Magic”
“Cut Straight To The Heart”
Sophie Ellis-Bextor's new album Make A Scene is released on 13th June and can be Pre-Ordered on the links below:
Leona Lewis - Let The Sun Shine (Labrinth Cover)
Leona Lewis covered Labrinth's "Let The Sunshine" today in the Live Lounge. While, I'm not the biggest fan of the original its much better than Leona's version. Leona's just sounded boring..
